Patient effects not being measured

I wonder if I am missing something here, please tell me if I am.

If the study looks only at the concern for staff operating MRI machinery, why are they not looking at the effect of EMF from MRI on patients subjected to the test.

"MRI SCANS TO BE EXAMINED FOR CANCER LINK"

An investigation into the safety of Magnetic Resonance Imaging is to be carried out amid heath fears. The scanners use strong magnetic fields that experts fear can interrupt normal body functions.

The Health Protection Agency will set up a working group who will look into the death rates & the number of cancer cases in staff who work with the machines.

Particular attention will be paid to whether exposure alters heart rhythms in those with cardiovascular problems or a pacemaker.
