Real or Frankenfoods and supplements? Your health, Your choice

There must be a glut of soy and canola oils at ADM or Cargill these days. So many new products keep popping up on the market, aimed at conning you to spend too much money for something that is full of unhealthy ingredients.

The blend of genetically modified (GMO) soy and canola oils has several names, including Heart Advatange in Bayer low dose aspirin', CoroWise in Centrum Cardio, or Heart Health Essentials in Promise products. The marketing of these "plant sterols" aims at convincing you it will help lower your bad cholesterol (LDL).

Reading the ingredient list in the Bayer aspirin product is chilling. It isn't just aspirin any more: Phytosterols, Aspirin, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Lactose, Croscarmellose Sodium, Corn Starch, Powdered Cellulose, Pregelatinized Starch, Hypromellose, FD&C Yellow #5 (tartrazine) Aluminum Lake, Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Triacetin, Carnauba Wax, Zinc Stearate, Anhydrous Citric Acid.
Contains: Milk.

And they don't tell you that there is a lot of research about long term use of aspirin can lead to destruction of the clotting mechanism in your body.

Now Promise has a new gimmick with their 'SuperShots' product aimed at lowering your blood pressure.

Perusing NHN you'll find I've written previously about GMO soy/canola blends, Cardio and Promise. You'll find too that I do not believe that GMO oils are good for health, especially soy and canola.

And I don't support the ingestion of cheap synthetic-ingredient supplements or those that are made of sugar, artificial flavor, synthetic preservatives (tochopherol acetate or synthetic vitamin E), toxic thickeners like carrageenan, guar or xanthan gums, or Red 40 food coloring.

Most of all I don't support the addition of SUCRALOSE (Splenda) which is a very toxic organochlorine compound that causes numerous health defeating problems, which you'll find here.

You're told to avoid eating processed foods because it leads to elevated blood pressure, weight gain, diabetes, and heart disease.

Then you are inundated with ads for expensive, artificial and processed pills and products to supposedly help you overcome all the woes of processed foods.

Is it real or is it Memorex?

Or, is it just about the money?

I'm sure these companies won't tell us but you can achieve the same results leass expensively and more healthfully with real foods and a few select things like good quality extra virgin olive oil sold in glass bottles, unsalted butter, and eating more vegetables in your diet.
